Control and Tray cables are suitable for installation in wet or dry locations. Cable jackets are sunlight resistant, impervious to moisture and vapor penetration, and non-propagating. Control and tray cables are suitable for use in raceways, aerial supported by messenger wire, outdoor applications and direct burial applications. These cables are also used for installation in trays, wire ways, troughs, channels, ducts and conduit.
The most common tray rated control cables are VNTC (TFN conductors, black sunlight resistant PVC jacket) and XHHW-TC or XLP-TC with a sunlight resistant PVC jacket. Another commonly stocked tray rated cable is FR-EPR/CPE or FREP. This cable comes with a flame retardant EPT insulation and a CPE jacket and provides even greater resistance to the elements.
